What lice a head?

On my first week of stay in our house after resigning, i got so busy with lots of things. And one of that is checking what runs in my daughters head.
Run because she keeps on scratching her head during sleep and i see a lot of small bumps in hear head. Then came a surprise that anyone will surely swear seeing what i saw. Creepy crawlers.
I hate lies and so do lice. It makes me want to puke seeing so much of them on my daughters head..So there starts my crusade . Kill all that  ” lice a head “ have. Surely you don’t want to see these in your kids head. So let’s see what we can do....

Lice are wingless parasitic insect that lives among human hairs and feed on extremely small amount of blood drawn from the scalp. They may sound gross but lice are a very common problem especially for kids ages 3 to 12 years. They aren’t dangerous but contagious and can be downright annoying. Their bites may cause a child’s scalp become itchy and inflamed. Tendency is, kids will keep on scratching their head so irritation and infection begins.

Lice can spread quickly from person to person. Though they cant  jump , they have claws that allow them to crawl and cling firmly to hair. They spread through head- to- head contact, sharing clothes, bed linens, combs, brushes and hats. Kids are more prone to catching lice because they tend to have close contact with each other and often share personal things.

Doctors can recommend a medicated shampoo, cream rinse or lotion to kill the lice but since these are over the counter medicine, you may want to try to do it yourself. Medicated lice treatment usually kills the lice and nits, but it may take few more days to stop the itching. It is important to follow the directions  exactly because these products are insecticides. Applying too much  medication or using it too frequently can increase the risk of causing harm.

But medication is not applicable for kids 2 years old and younger, so you will need to remove the nits and lice by hand. You may also use fine-tooth comb on your child’s wet, conditioned hair every 3 to 4 days. Tough petroleum jelly, mayonnaise or olive oil are sometimes used in an attempt to suffocate head lice, these treatment have not been proven to be effective.

After doing all those medications and treatment , preventing reinfestation  is a must to keep them away. You may want to try these simple steps to get rid of the lice and their eggs from coming back..
  • Wash all bed linens and clothing that’s been recently worn by anyone in your home who is infested in very hot water (130 degree farenheigt )
  • Vacuum carpets and any upholstered furniture
  • Have bed linens, clothing, and stuffed animals and toys that can’t be washed dry-cleaned. Or put them in airtight bags for two weeks.
  • Soak hair care items like combs, barrettes, hair ties or bands in rubbing alcohols or medicated shampoo for an hour.
Having head lice is not a sign of uncleanliness or poor hygiene. The pesky little bugs can be a problem for kids of all ages and socioeconomic levels, no matter how often they do or don’t clean their hair or bathe..
No matter how long the problem last, its important for kids to understand that they haven’t done anything wrong and that having lice doesn’t make them dirty. Be patient and follow the treatments and prevention tips as directed and you will be well on your way to keep the bugs away..
I hope to see you join me in my crusade to a healthier happier kids.. Let us keep the Lice away.. :=D

  6. Children normally has lice and will eventually gone as they grows up. I don't know how I got rid of those suckers . All i remember was my mom used to remove all of them everyday during nap time and i hate it when she does that.

  7. Hmm, I noticed that there's a sudden change of style of writing. Most of the middle part and last part do not sound identical with the beginning.
